Hotels Curt's guests have recommended

These are hotels my guest have given consistently high marks. I again want to assure you I have no financial relationship to these hotels. I do have a bit of a selfish motive however, want to be well-rested and happy for when we tour together.  

Platzl Hotel: 4 Stars.

The hotel located in the Alte Stadt (heart of the inner city) and is a stone’s throw from Marienplatz, the Glockenspiel, the Residenz, the whole works. München Palace Hotel: 4 Stars.

Privately owned, elegantly appointed and with a focus on service, the München Palace is located in the loveliest area of Munich, Bogenhausen. Hotel Laimer Hof (Boutique hotel).

If you're looking for a quaint hotel in a historic neighborhood this is it. The hotel is a short stroll from Schloss Nymphenburg, the summer palace of the royal family. It's a ten minute walk to the 17 tram which delivers you to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof). From the train station you can take a quick S-Bahn or walk to Marienplatz. The hotel is family run and while the rooms are not large, I'm told the staff makes up for it with their hospitality. http://www.laimerhof.de/en.html  

Hotel Cortiina: 4 Stars.

Only a few blocks from Marienplatz (the center square of Munich), this is a very nice hotel and a bit chic. If you like open windows, ask for a room away from the street. If it's a warm night the bar across the street can have folks chatting outside. http://www.designhotels.com/cortiina  

Louis Hotel:

They shouldn't have to bother with stars... they don't have to....... So far, nothing but over-the-top great reviews from my guest. Right across from the Viktualienmarkt, Munich's open air market and a stone throw from Marienplatz. More pricy than the others and the rooms are not huge, but everyone loves it. http://www.designhotels.com/louishotel  

Rocco Forte The Charles Hotel: 5 Stars.

I have yet to have a guest disappointed. Indoor pool, fitness center, spacious rooms and wait until you see the breakfast buffet. A fifteen minute walk to the city center and across from the Botanical Garden Park. http://www.thecharleshotel.com/  

Hotel Kempinski: 5 Stars

And each of those stars should be made of gold. Nothing but the best of Munich, this is where the bazillionaires stay and you should too. Euro Book Hotel: 4 Stars.

The hotel is new and everyone who has stayed there has been very impressed. The literary theme runs throughout with giant murals of pages from famous novels on the walls of the lobby and rooms. It is located near the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) and it is about a twenty minute walk or short S-Bahn train ride to Marienplatz (city center). While Munich is a very safe city, the neighborhood is a bit gruff if you're not used to the inner-city. http://www.eurostarsbookhotel.com/EN/hotel.html  

Motel One:

No, it's not a motel, but a clean and affordable hotel without frills. If you like the color turquoise, the cool-looking lobby is awash in it. If you're able, try to get a room at the Sendlinger Tor location. It's a nice five minute walk to Marienplatz. Freisinger Hof (Boutique hotel).

As mentioned under places to eat, the attached restaurant is to die for. This is a charming hotel, well appointed with a fitness facility. Walkers and jogger delight, the hotel is close to my favorite part of the Englisher Garten which is more wooded along the Isar River.
